The Brazilian star defeated Cristina Morales on Friday, March 8, to retain the ONE Women’s Atomweight Muay Thai World Championship in the co-main event of the spectacular card inside Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Future challenges and potential opponents for Allycia Hellen Rodrigues

Through five rounds, Rodrigues showed the heart of a champion as she stalked and pressured her Spanish foe en route to a unanimous decision win. During a post-event interview, the Phuket Fight Club representative was asked if she thinks she is the best female striker in the world after her incredible display.

“I have to believe in myself and trust myself so I’m very happy. Of course, it’s very gratifying to be where I’m at. I don’t think I’m the best. But surely one of the best. I’m going to continue doing my best to keep improving and giving it my all during fights.” Rodrigues said.

With her latest win, the atomweight Muay Thai queen has cemented her reign. And the inevitable question of what’s next for her featured prominently in the same interview. Rodrigues was quick to list two competitors that she had in mind when it came to defending her crown. “I’m expecting to fight against Phetjeeja or Stamp Fairtex if she comes back to Muay Thai,” she said.

Hellen Rodrigues’s next challenge

“The Queen” Phetjeeja Lukjaoporongtom competed on the same card as Rodrigues last Friday. The Thai enigma was crowned the undisputed ONE Women’s Atomweight Kickboxing World Champion when she defeated Janet Todd in the evening’s main event. Phetjeeja certainly has the credibility to call for a champion-versus-champion clash. She is undefeated across six outings in ONE Championship, and four of those wins have come in Muay Thai action.

Stamp, on the other hand, was the atomweight Muay Thai queen until Rodrigues snatched the World Title from her on her debut in 2020. She has since switched sports and claimed the ONE Women’s Atomweight MMA World Title, but a rematch with her old foe would, undoubtedly, be a tempting prospect for the Fairtex Training Center standout.

Beyond defending her gold, though, Rodrigues outlined other exciting ideas she has in mind – and arguably the most interesting one involves Stamp once again. “I’m anxious to make my MMA debut. I think it’ll be a great opportunity to make a run in MMA. I’d like Stamp Fairtex in MMA.” she said.
