“Hitman” is set to return to action after a long layoff due to injury when he faces Japanese striker Katsuki Kitano in a bantamweight Muay Thai battle this Friday, June 7, at ONE 167: Tawanchai vs. Nattawut II inside the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

Liam Harrison eyes comeback against Kitano after long injury hiatus

Harrison’s World Title challenge of Nong-O Hama at ONE on Prime Video 1 in August 2022 didn’t end on ideal terms for the veteran, as he suffered a devastating knee injury that ended their match in just the first round.

The nightmare only continued as he faced multiple setbacks on his way to recovery, which led to an extended time away from the ring. The 39-year-old has finally put his health issues behind him, though, and he is now ready to make a statement the whole world will hear when he takes on a much younger Kitano.

“I’m looking forward to getting in there and turning the clocks back, doing what I used to do a couple of years ago, and just having wild fights,” Harrison told ONE in an interview.

He further added, “There are questions that need to be answered. Like, am I going to come back as vicious? Will I still have that knockout power? And I’m going to answer those questions with a resounding yes. I’m going to come forward, get him on his back foot, and I’m going to hurt him.”

“Hitman” has always put on a show for fans. Four of his five fights in ONE Championship haven’t seen the judges’ scorecards, which is a testament to the Englishman’s penchant for pulling out all the stops for a finish or going out on his shield trying to get the knockout.

After almost two years on the shelf, the Bad Company representative will be eager to once again showcase his skills on the global stage. And, as a veteran of over 100 fights, fans should keep their eyes open for what could be one of the most memorable performances of the ONE 167 card.
