Often referred to as the greatest MMA fighter of all time, Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson is fired up to put on a performance worthy of the GOAT tag in his return to the ONE Championship Circle. The reigning ONE Flyweight World Champion puts his gold on the line in a trilogy battle against Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes in the main event of ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video on Friday, May 5.

Johnson captured the crown from the former divisional king when they battled last year, and he wants to better that performance when they slug it out at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado – ONE’s debut U.S. on-ground event. “I’m just going to go out there and try to be the best Demetrious Johnson that I can be,” the 13-time flyweight World Champion shared.

Exceeding his last win could be hard, though. When they met in the main event of ONE on Prime Video 1 last August, Johnson claimed the ONE Flyweight World Title with a wicked flying left knee that left the Brazilian knocked out cold on the canvas.

And much as he did in the first fight, he has been studying past performances to try and identify gaps in his rival’s defense.

“When we looked at the first fight against him, we saw a lot of things, and then we were able to execute it in the second fight,” the 36-year-old said. “In the third fight, I plan on doing the exact same thing, just being in better shape, faster, stronger, and taking the fight to him.”

The constant improvement of his skills makes Johnson different from others

A victory for Johnson on home soil will take his head-to-head rivalry with Moraes to 2-1. At the same time, it will further solidify his status as the sport’s GOAT. With that in mind, “Mighty Mouse” is game to put on another jaw-dropping performance on May 5.

“I think the answer to [what sets me apart from the other fighters in the conversation] is I feel like the whole time. I’ve always been growing and just understanding my style,” Johnson said.

“Obviously now, people are seeing it more because I battled adversity when I fought Adriano Moraes for the first time. A lot of athletes, when they suffer a huge defeat and get knocked out, they get kind of gun-shy.”

“But for me, I think I’m just getting more warmed up as a mixed martial artist and just getting better, and that separates me from the other people who are on the list of the greatest of all time.”
