Tayfun Ozcan has accomplished much in his professional martial arts career, and he will tick another important box on his list this Friday. “Turbine” will step inside the hallowed halls of the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on June 9, to square off with former ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion Superbon Singha Maywynn at ONE Fight Night 11: Eersel vs. Menshikov on Prime Video.

Tayfun Ozcan was supercharged for his iconic Lumpini Stadium bout

Ozcan is honored to have the opportunity to compete in the storied stadium, and he can hardly contain his excitement for his upcoming match. “It’s my second time in Thailand, and it’s my first fight in Thailand. So, it’s going to be very nice. I’m looking forward to it,” the 31-year-old told ONE Championship.

Ozcan was slated to clash with Superbon in October 2022 – when the Thai superstar held the divisional crown. Unfortunately, his upcoming foe pulled out at the last minute due to sickness, leaving the Dutch-Turkish striker open to face Marat Grigorian.

Tayfun Ozcan was happy to fulfill the people’s wish of a fight against Superbon

They’ll finally get their hands on each other this Friday, however, and both fighters will be hungry to pick up a crucial victory in their respective quests to challenge reigning ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion Chingiz Allazov. Reflecting on finally getting his opportunity to face Superbon, Ozcan says he is delighted to be meeting him under the ONE banner.

“I was very happy. Because the fight would originally happen in October. I was pumped up for a fight, and I felt a little disappointed when it didn’t go on,” he said. “And now, I’m very happy to get the fight again because a lot of people were asking for it. Before we were both signed to ONE, people were asking, ‘When are you going to fight Superbon?’ So now, it’s the perfect time to fight him.”
