Teen sensation Johan Ghazali is set to return to ONE Championship action against a formidable opponent as part of the ever-growing ONE 167: Stamp vs. Zamboanga card this summer. On Friday, June 7, Ghazali will face Vietnamese star Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat in a flyweight Muay Thai contest inside the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

The 17-year-old phenom has been spectacular since arriving in ONE last year. He defeated his first four opponents, scoring three knockouts, in the ONE Friday Fights series to earn a six-figure contract to compete on the promotion’s biggest stage.

Once in the organization, Ghazali let the world know he meant business when he knocked out former World Title challenger Edgar Tabares in just over half a minute at ONE Fight Night 17 last December. That was one of the most spectacular performances of Ghazali so far.

The Malaysian-American striker is now ready to move to the upper echelon of the flyweight division by competing against a veteran of the sport. Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat is one of the most accomplished strikers in Vietnam, and he has carried his national colors to multiple medals wins in various international competitions.

Duy Nhat will be looking for a win after his recent loss

“No.1” scored back-to-back knockout victories when he joined ONE in 2019 and looked poised to be one of the fighters to watch out for in the flyweight Muay Thai ranks. Unfortunately, the global pandemic slowed down his momentum and prevented him from competing in the world’s largest martial arts organization for an extended period.

During his time away, Duy Nhat amassed an undefeated 4-0 record while competing in a local MMA tournament, which he used to stay on top of his game. Last December at ONE Fight Night 17, he returned with high hopes of continuing his rise in ONE. Unfortunately, he suffered a second-round knockout loss to Denis Puric. That defeat was disappointing, but it will surely fuel him to bounce back with a big win against Ghazali.

If the Vietnamese star can manage to do that, it will help him regain some of the momentum he lost, especially with all the attention his young foe has attracted in his promotional run thus far. ONE 167 will be headlined by Stamp Fairtex defending her ONE Women’s Atomweight MMA World Championship for the first time against her friend and former teammate, Denice Zamboanga.
