Just two days out from ONE Championship’s return to the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, a pair of the organization’s top strikers have made their pick for the barnburner main event contest between ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-O Hama and challenger Jonathan “The General” Haggerty.

Liam Harrison bets on his “clear favorite”

The Leeds native would love to see his fellow countryman rise to the occasion and stop the dominant Thai, but having shared the Circle with Nong-O, Harrison knows it would not be an easy task.

Harrison said:

“Nong-O’s obviously the clear favorite. I hope Haggerty uses this as some sort of fuel for him to pull something out of the bag. But, at the same time, you can’t bet against Nong-O. After what his previous performances in this division [has shown], you can’t bet against him.”

The Brit might be sitting on the fence for this bantamweight Muay Thai thriller.

But former ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion Superbon Singha Mawynn sees Nong-O defending his belt for an eight-time with a sixth successive highlight-reel finish.

Superbon said:

“I think it will be a close fight in the first two rounds. But after the third round, I think Nong-O will dominate the game. He has more gas in his tank, and he still can attack continuously. My prediction is that Nong-O will win by knockout in the third round.”

However, Superbon believes Haggerty’s age and size are two massive tools the Londoner can use to walk away with a huge upset at Lumpinee Stadium on Friday.

But if he fails to do so, the Thai believes Nong-O’s experience will see him leave the victor in the main event of ONE Fight Night 9.

Superbon added:

“Haggerty has the advantage of being younger and bigger than Nong-O. If he can utilize these two attributes well enough, he may have a chance to beat Nong-O.

“As for Nong-O, he will have an advantage in experience because he faced countless elite fighters. His endurance and ability to adapt to different game plans are far better than Haggerty.”
