After a lengthy absence due to injury, “Hitman” is set to return this June at ONE 167: Stamp vs. Zamboanga to face Japan’s Katsuki Kitano in a bantamweight Muay Thai contest inside the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

Liam Harrison talks about ONE double champ Jonathan Haggerty

Last year, Harrison was forced to watch from the sidelines as his compatriot, Jonathan “The General” Haggerty, did what 10 other men – including him – couldn’t come close to doing.

The British brawler knocked out Nong-O Hama to claim the bantamweight Muay Thai crown at ONE Fight Night 9 in April, and he has been most vocal about challenging anyone to come and try to take the belt since. He also went as far as to say that “Hitman” would be the “easiest fight in the division.”

Though the words were unsurprisingly offensive to Harrison, he recently told Sky Sports that his young countryman should take aim at someone else to show the world his true potential.

“Haggerty needs to beat someone in their prime now, like Nico [Carrillo], like a Superlek, like a Rodtang, for him to go to that next level,” he said.

It was announced recently that “The General” will defend his World Title for a second time when ONE Championship returns to the U.S. for ONE 168: Denver this September. That evening, he’ll meet flyweight Muay Thai king Superlek Kiatmoo9 in a thrilling champ-versus-champ battle.

Harrison has little doubt about Haggerty’s power and durability. After all, the 27-year-old fought back from a first-round knockdown against Felipe Lobo in his last outing to finish proceedings with a third-round knockout and successfully defend his bantamweight Muay Thai belt.

Harrison talks about his excitement for the Haggerty vs Superlek

As such, the Bad Company representative is excited to see what he will do against a superstar like “The Kicking Machine,” who is also riding an impressive streak of wins.

“He is a very, very dangerous young man. He’s an exciting fighter to watch. [Against Superlek], we’re going to see what he’s really made of,” Harrison said.

“Haggerty’s been on great form, Superlek’s been on great form, you’re going to get an explosion.”
