Jared Brooks is a household name in the world of MMA. The current ONE Championship Strawweight world title holder is also a former UFC fighter. Brooks put up an awesome show in his fight against Joshua Pacio at ONE 164. He also managed to come up on top of Pacio in the bout and crowned himself the ONE Championship Strawweight World Champion. Brooks is known to MMA fans for his ‘all-guns-blazing’ starts to bouts. His style consists of superb striking, matched with an equally strong ground-and-pound game. Recently, Brooks spoke about his future plans after claiming the throne of the Strawweight Division in ONE Championship.

Brooks also revealed that the Strawweight division was not one of his choices. But he was happy about claiming himself the ONE Strawweight King.

Jared Brooks lauded Demetrious Johnson and desired a fight with him

Jared Brooks and Demetrious Johnson were both former UFC fighters. Brooks was well aware of the stupendous fight skills of the ‘Mighty Mouse’, Demetrious Johnson. The ‘Mighty Mouse’ had also showcased his pure class in the UFC prior to joining ONE Championship.

He was also appreciated by the color commentator and one of the most long-time employees of the UFC, Joe Rogan. Brooks also displayed the same tone of appreciation toward Johnson.

In an interview with ‘MMAJunkieRadio’, he stated, “I would also like to fight Demetrious Johnson. Demetrious Johnson’s the GOAT. Would love to fight him”.

‘The Monkey God’ further implied that Flyweight was the division in which he wanted to fight.

He talked about being in the Strawweight Division of ONE and stated, “It’s not the weight class that I would like to be a world champion in, but we’ve got time”.

But his seven-fight win streak had kept him somewhat contented. He said, “That’s all that matters”.

Jared Brooks wanted a couple of title defenses and agreed to a John Lineker fight

The current ONE Strawweight World champion also revealed that a couple of title defenses would be one of his goals before moving up to flyweight. He mentioned that he would like to defend his Strawweight title “a couple of times” before moving up to Flyweight and facing the ‘Mighty Mouse’.

Brooks also revealed that he was willing to take on the ONE Bantamweight Title contender, John ‘Hands of Stone’ Lineker if the promotion provides its consent to their matchup.

The chance of a cross-promotion run with both ONE Championship and UFC was also revealed by ‘The Monkey God’. He expressed his desire for a UFC rematch with his former opponent, David Figueiredo, or a shot at Brandon Moreno as well.
