The two-sport ONE World Champion ended Dmitry Menshikov’s six-year unbeaten run in just 46 seconds in the main event of the star-studded spectacle this past Friday, June 9.
The Surinamese-Dutch striker dispatched his debuting foe via a massive left kick and stiff left jab to retain his ONE Lightweight Muay Thai World Title, and he made it clear that he was ready for a full-on war in an interview with ONE following the victory.

“I was prepared for a five-round battle. And I wanted to show my skills, especially my elbows. But I caught him in the first round already. So, yeah, I’m a little bit disappointed. But on the other side, I’m also very happy it was a very quick KO,” Eersel said.

With the victory, the 30-year-old extended his run in ONE to a jaw-dropping 10-0. He has dispatched the best contenders in both the lightweight Muay Thai and kickboxing divisions, and a future challenger is genuinely difficult to name.
Nonetheless, Eersel knows the target on his back is only getting bigger, and he sees it as motivation to get even better.

“It feels great to have a target on my back because I don’t see the pressure. I think a lot of people think that I am under pressure, but there’s none. A target on my back means that I’m very focused. And it keeps me sharp, and I know people want the belt,” he said.

“I don’t think like ‘oh, I have the belt, so I have to defend it.’ No, I just think in a straight line. The end goal is to win over the opponent. And that’s the main goal. So the belt is on the side. So that’s my thought about it,” he said.
“The Immortal” is looking to continue to build his legacy in combat sports, and he is determined to extend his unbeaten record beyond the inconceivable 22 fights that it currently sits at.
