Tawanchai PK Saenchai wants to cement his name among the best strikers on the planet, and competing at featherweight in ONE Championship gives him the perfect opportunity to do it. The ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion made a statement in his ONE kickboxing debut, finishing former Glory Kickboxing World Champion Davit Kiria in the third round of their matchup at ONE Fight Night 13.

The win handed Tawanchai his fourth knockout across his five straight victories. And he already has his next challenge scheduled – defending his World Title against former featherweight kickboxing king Superbon Singha Mawynn.

Superbon lost his strap to Chingiz Allazov at ONE Fight Night 6 in January, but he rebounded in spectacular fashion this past June when he sent Tayfun Ozcan into oblivion with a massive head kick knockout. The win showed the world he is still a significant threat, and Tawanchai is looking forward to testing his skills against his compatriot when they square off.

“His timing was great against Ozcan. He was really good at finding the right time to strike his opponent, and that made his strikes successful,” he told ONE Championship in a recent interview. “I think it will be a fun fight. I think we have close skills in terms of skill sets, so I think it will be entertaining.”

Overcoming an opponent with Superbon’s stature would certainly add more fuel to the rocket Tawanchai is riding to superstardom. Should he beat the striking great, many believe he is likely to resume his quest for kickboxing glory in ONE.

But when asked if he is ready to challenge reigning featherweight king Allazov, the 24-year-old says he’ll leave it up to the world’s largest martial arts organization to decide.

“I can’t say for sure [whether I’ll get to fight Allazov] because it’s up to ONE Championship which opponent they’re gonna give me, but it’s my dream to get a World Title belt in kickboxing,” Tawanchai said.
