ONE Muay Thai Featherweight champion Tawanchai PK.Saenchai added another feather to his cap with a successful title defense over Jamal Yusupov at ONE Fight Night 7. In his maiden title defense, the striking phenom neutralized his opponent with a perfectly placed leg-kick. Just 49 second into the fight, Jamal Yusupov’s lead leg crumbled under the force of a Saenchai kick. The former Russian kickboxing champion immediately felt the effect of the kick and hopped his way to the ropes. The referee called the fight as he had seen enough to decide the 37-year-old was unfit to continue.

The rematch between Fabricio Andrade and John Lineker headlined the event at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium. 23-year-old Tawanchai defended his title in the co-main to add to his list of 128 career victories. Going into the fight, the champion had claimed that he could not underestimate Yusupov. ONE’s 2022 Muay Thai Fighter of the Year also showed confidence in his preparations ahead of his title defense. He had stated his training regimen for the fight had proved his mental and physical states. The striking sensation proved his words true against Yusupov as he sent the Russian packing in under a minute.

The dominant display earned Tawanchai props from the fans. However, many of them also showed concern for Yusupov’s leg.
