Two of the world’s top pound-for-pound strikers will headline ONE Championship’s first event of 2023, which goes down next Friday, January 13. Superbon Singha Mawynn will finally put his ONE Featherweight World Title on the line against top-ranked contender Chingiz “Chinga” Allazov at ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

It’s been a tumultuous journey to this meeting of superstars. The pair were initially booked for a date at ONE on Prime Video 2 and then ONE on Prime Video 5 last year, but a couple of injuries and illnesses forced a delay to the hotly anticipated showdown.

Superbon Singha Maywnn aims to put on an enthralling bout for the fans

After months of waiting, Superbon is fried up to throw down with the Gridin Gym striking dynamo. “Both Chingiz and I are in the top form. This fight will be super exciting. He wants my belt, and I want to beat every contender in the ranking,” the 32-year-old said.

“It’s now or never for me and Chingiz. If we miss this chance, I don’t know when we will have a chance to fight again. I would say that this fight is the fight every kickboxing fan must watch.”

For his part, the divisional king’s track record inside the Circle is proof that he guarantees a barnburner. Superbon debuted at the Singapore-based promotion with a thrilling win over Sittichai Sitsongpeenong. Then, the Thai put kickboxing GOAT Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan down with a knockout for the ages, earning him his World Title as well as ONE’s 2021 Striking Knockout Of The Year award.

He followed that up with a successful title defense against Armenian superstar Marat Grigorian last year.

Superbon Singha Maywnn himself and few others were better than his well-rounded opponent

Meanwhile, Allazov is cut from the same cloth. The Minsk native picked himself up from a defeat in his promotional bow and earned two back-to-back first-round knockouts against Samy “AK47” Sana and “Smokin” Jo Nattawut in the opening rounds of the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix.

In his most recent appearance at ONE X in March last year, he outclassed longtime rival Sitthichai across three rounds to claim the tournament’s silver belt and his shot at the gold. Superbon has been impressed with Allazov’s performances in the Circle. Though, he feels that “Chinga” is not on the same level as his past rivals.

“Surely, he is a strong opponent. He just won the World Grand Prix tournament. He is one of the best kickboxers in ONE. But still, for me, he’s not better than Petrosyan, Marat, or Sittichai,” he said.

Whatever may unfold when the two square off next week, Superbon promises to bring the fire. And in Allazov, the World Champion certainly has a worthy opponent.
