Kiamrian Abbasov has reigned over the welterweight division for two years, and the Kyrgyzstan MMA star believes that will continue at ONE on Prime Video 4 on Friday, November 18. That evening, the ONE Welterweight World Champion defends his strap against ONE Lightweight World Champion Christian Lee.

Abbasov was just as surprised as fans when he received the contract that bore the Evolve MMA and United MMA fighter’s name, but it didn’t scare him whatsoever.

In fact, the welterweight king is game to give the young lion a baptism of fire when they clash inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Kiamrian Abbasov intends to make it a gruesome fight for Christian Lee

“I did not expect Christian. It is a surprise. I was expecting to get a fight with Murad Ramazanov. But, I’m very glad I don’t have to fight my [fellow Russian]. It is even better for me,” Abbasov said.

“Christian is a good opponent. He is a good, explosive fighter. But I know his weaknesses, and I am not a guy from his division – the rules are different here.”

Abbasov knows that Lee is explosive on the canvas and on the feet, and he is aware that “The Warrior” has a chance to extend his record as the fighter with the most finishes inside the Circle.

Nonetheless he’s confident he will make achieving that task extremely difficult for Lee.

“Brazen” moved up to challenge Reinier “The Dutch Knight” de Ridder’s ONE Middleweight World Title earlier this year, taking the unbeaten Dutchman into the third round before succumbing to a submission loss. From that defeat, he learned just how difficult it is to move up a division and challenge the World Champion.

That said, Abbasov admits that it could be possible to do.

“When I was moving up a level, I lacked some skills, which I am working hard on now,” he said. “Everybody has a chance. This is going to be the type of fight where you cannot predict anything, and you definitely cannot underestimate your opponent.

“It is all about character, willpower, and determination. We will see if he can show it in the cage. I am ready.”
