Jarred Brooks feels at the top of his game right now, and he’s looking to weaponize his confidence to find a show-stopping win in his upcoming match. ‘The Monkey God’ will defend the ONE Strawweight MMA World Championship against former titleholder Joshua Pacio at ONE 166: Qatar this Friday, March 1, inside the Lusail Sports Arena, and he plans to keep his perfect MMA run in ONE Championship alive.

Brooks dominated every fighter that came his way in the sport since he joined ONE en route to his first bout with Pacio at ONE 164 in December 2022, and he implemented a perfect game that evening to walk away with a unanimous decision win and the divisional crown.

The American star, Jarred Brooks hasn’t been seen in ONE since then, bar his unsuccessful – yet notably impressive – challenge of Mikey Musumeci’s ONE Flyweight Submission Grappling World Title last August, so he’s rearing to return to his bread and butter to remind everyone why he’s the king of the strawweight MMA division.

“Right now, I’m in the zone. There’s nothing that can stop me. I’m at the point where I’m ready to go. There’s no if or buts about it. I’m just ready to smash some face,” Brooks said.

“I’m there to steal the show. I’m there to get a (US)$50,000 bonus for the first time. But I’m there for more than just money. I’m there for my belt and to go out and provide for my daughter and my family,” Brooks said. “I want it to be quick. And I want it to surprise him – surprise all of the people in Qatar – and surprise [ONE Chairman and CEO] Chatri Sityodtong by showing that I have really big knockout power for the size that I am.”

He further added in another “Seeing what I capitalized on in the first fight and then trying to find the thin points in those capitalizations that I can capitalize even more on. I’ll look at things that I did wrong and fill those holes in the meantime and then see what he’s working on in the meantime.”
