#1 Nong-O Destroys Liam Harrison With Vicious Leg Kicks

ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai kingpin Nong-O Hama left no stone unturned on his way to another successful title defense against Brit striking icon Liam “Hitman” Harrison in the co-main event of ONE on Prime Video 1 last year.

The striking force from Thailand chopped away at Harrison’s lead leg with one kick after another while peppering him with jabs upstairs. “Hitman” did not seem to slow down from those initial shots, though, and he advanced with powerful haymakers which narrowly missed.

Unfortunately for the Leeds native, every time he ventured into enemy territory – there were more shots to his lead leg. The final one dropped him to the canvas, which handed Nong-O his fourth consecutive knockout inside the Circle.

#2 Jhanlo Sangiao Chokes Out Paul Lumihi

Jhanlo Mark “The Machine” Sangiao lived up to all the hype surrounding his promotional debut with a rear-naked choke win against veteran Paul “The Great King” Lumihi at ONE: WINTER WARRIORS II in December 2021.

The Team Lakay star punished Lumihi with heavy artillery before shooting in for a takedown. From there, “The Machine” fired away with punches from half-guard, which forced the Indonesian to scramble and look for a route out.

However, “The Great King” gave up his back during that sequence – and Sangiao took the invitation to cling onto his rival’s back to secure the decisive rear-naked choke at 1:41 of the first frame.

#3 Meng Bo Crushes Jenelyn Olsim In 24 Seconds

Meng Bo returned to the win column in classic fashion at ONE 164 in December last year, securing a lightning-fast knockout of Jenelyn “The Graceful” Olsim inside the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines.

Olsim began the contest aggressively and took the center of the Circle. But the Chinese athlete soon forced her opponent back near the Circle Wall with an overhand right.

“The Graceful” wanted to get herself out of the tight spot, but when she took a step forward, she only walked herself into a crushing overhand right that connected flush. With Olsim on her back on the canvas, Bo secured top mount and poured hammerfists and elbows to earn the knockout finish after just 24 seconds.

The coveted scrap between Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson in 2002 was when I realized the passion for combat sports within my family. My interest in combat sports began watching scripted pro wrestling shows. It was my father who directed me towards combat sports and it wasn’t until the late 2010s that I discovered the world of MMA and the UFC. Like many of you, I too, tuned in for the infamous Nurmagomedov vs. McGregor bout live on October 6, 2018. Being an ardent fan of the UFC (and Dustin ‘The Diamond’ Poirier), I was always looking to have conversations about the same with others. But to my disappointment, I hardly found any followers of the sports to interact with. So I took it upon myself to do my part in popularizing the thrill and the agony behind the purest form of unarmed combat. At EssentiallySports, I try to bring the readers closer to the athletes and focus my coverage on exploring the human side of these martial artists. I’m a musician during my time free from reporting MMA. I operate as the lead vocalist of a rock band that aims to make their mark among the audiences with their original alternative-hard rock songs.
