Grappling phenoms Tye and Kade Ruotolo may be identical twins, but they are very different when it comes to their personalities.

The brothers are both booked for huge grappling bouts in the coming months in ONE Championship, but they recently took time out of preparation to talk about how they differ.

Tye will be in action on Friday, July 5, when he takes on young grappling star Jozef Chen at ONE Fight Night 23. Two months later, Kade will defend his ONE Lightweight Submission Grappling World Title when he faces another grappling monster in flyweight king Mikey “Darth Rigatoni” Musumeci at ONE 168: Denver.

Tye Ruotolo and Kade Ruotolo have unique game plans for opponents

The American sensations share a passion for grappling, competition, and much more, but as they told ONE in a recent interview, they also like to take their own individual approaches to the fight game.

“The first [difference] is the awareness of our bodies, and taking care of our bodies, and being aware of rehab and stuff like that. Tye loves it. If Tye didn’t do jiu-jitsu, I could see him being a personal trainer or a chiropractor or something. He enjoys understanding the body and fixing himself and unwinding himself,” Kade revealed.

“I’m like my dad. I’m old school. If I’m hurt, I’m just like, ‘I’m not hurt. I’m fine.’ I just try to keep a ‘you know, I’m fine. It hurts, but it doesn’t hurt’ mentality. Because I know in the match, adrenaline usually takes the pain away. I’m always kind of neglecting my injuries, and Tye is always taking care of his, so that’s probably one of the main differences.”

Tye appears to exemplify his twin brother’s observations while competing in ONE. Through six fights, the Atos athlete has competed against opponents who are bigger than him – as if testing the limits of what his body can do.

Meanwhile, Kade’s innovative offense may appear reckless to others, which is a testament to his reliance on a good adrenaline kick.

For his part, Tye also shared that he deals with people differently than his brother does, and thus they are affected by opinions according to their preferences.

“I probably hermit out more than Kade does. Kade enjoys making a lot of connections, sponsorship type of things. I like to hermit out a little bit. I’m outgoing, but when I’m at home, I’m happy. I think that’s the biggest difference,” he said.

“I let things fly by until it’s really affecting me. Kade, he checks s*** immediately, no matter what.”

Despite having things that make them unique, the Ruotolo twins share a love for producing exciting performances whenever they are in action. So, fans would be wise not to miss them when they compete at ONE Fight Night 23 and ONE 168: Denver, respectively.
