Lito Adiwang has never been more motivated to make moves in ONE Championship’s strawweight MMA division, given that the rest of the contenders have been gaining position. At ONE Fight Night 19: Haggerty vs. Lobo on Friday, February 16, “Thunder Kid” will have that chance when he takes on multi-sport star Danial Williams in a pivotal battle inside the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

The stacked strawweight MMA division has seen notable action over the past few weeks, with #2-ranked Bokang Masunyane and #3-ranked Gustavo Balart picking up wins at ONE 165.

It will also be in the spotlight again on March 1 when ONE Strawweight MMA World Champion Jarred Brooks rematches former titleholder Joshua Pacio at ONE 166: Qatar. So Adiwang knows that now is the time to impress, and he’s excited about what a victory in his upcoming bout could mean for his 2024 campaign.

The division is moving, and I love it. It’s good for our division. I’ve visualized that, by the end of the year, I’ll be challenging for the belt already. There are a lot of great fights for me in the future, like Bokang and Balart. I really want to face them,” he said.

Of course, he needs to get past Williams first, which is no small order. “Mini T” has been one of the most electrifying athletes in the world’s largest martial arts organization for some time, and he’s produced three finishes in his MMA run so far.

The Thai-Aussie star has also pushed flyweight striking kings Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Superlek Kiatmoo9, as well as ONE Strawweight Kickboxing World Champion Jonathan Di Bella, to their limits, proving that he belongs among the best strikers on the planet.

Adiwang is unfazed by his opponent’s credentials, however, as he’s determined to earn his right to fight for the World Title. And given his record of nine wins from 12 fights in ONE Championship, he has every right to think he can do it. “I believe, with this win, I can get to the top five, but actually, whether I get in or not, my mentality would always be to smash the next contender and keep winning,” said Adiwang.

He further added, “For me, being in the top five doesn’t excite me. The only thing that excites me is winning and getting that title shot. I don’t want to fight for some rankings. I want to get a World Title shot. That’s what will excite me.”
