“One of the Nicest Personalities”: Novak Djokovic Praises Hubert Hurkacz on Ending the Season on a High Note

In the semi-final of the Rolex Paris Masters 2021, World No. 1 Novak Djokovic was taking on Polish professional Hubert Hurkacz. It was an incredible match which went the distance. The match eventually had to be decided in three hard-fought sets, in favor of the Serbian ace, 3-6, 6-0, 7-6(5). 

This season has been one of the best for the Polish player Hubert Hurkacz. He managed to win an ATP Masters 1000 event in Miami as well as beat Swiss tennis ace Roger Federer at the Wimbledon Championships this season. Taking note of that, Novak Djokovic applauded the Polish star for his accomplishments this year.

The Serbian ace stated, Congratulations to Hubert Hurkacz for a great fight on the court today and for a year of great results that have secured him a spot in Turin for the first time Hubi has one of the nicest personalities on the Tour and he deserves all the support he gets.”

Novak Djokovic has done wonders in 2021

After winning the match against Hurkacz, Djokovic achieved a great feat, holding the World No. 1 position for a record 7th year. In doing so, he surpassed his idol, Pete Sampras, who was tied with him on six previously. 

Hubert has had a brilliant run in the 2021 season, grabbing 3 of his 4 ATP titles this year. He also bageled Roger Federer at Wimbledon, something that nobody would have ever dreamt of, as he surpassed him in the quarter final of the event.

Coming to Djokovic, he has had a remarkable season this year. The 34-year-old player won the first three Grand Slam titles this season and looked good to win the fourth and final Major this year.

However, he was stopped by Russian powerhouse Daniil Medvedev, who managed to beat him in straight sets at Flushing Meadows. The 25-year-old player won the first Major of his career.

Hurkacz and Nole can meet again at the ATP Finals in Italy, will the young Pole get his revenge?
