Organisers Forced to Add More Capacity For ‘Roger Federer vs Rafael Nadal’ Match

The sixth showdown of the Match for Africa will take place in Cape Town, South Africa where the tennis fans will be getting to watch ‘Roger Federer vs Rafael Nadal’.

Considering the South African tennis fans who missed out on purchasing tickets for the match, the Cape Town match organisers have accommodated 2,670 more seats in the stadium. For the additional tickets at stake a ticket ballot system will be put.

When the tickets for the match were initially put on sale in September 2019 48,000 tickets were sold out under 10 minutes. Numerous tennis fans were disappointed upon failing to purchase the tickets for the ‘Fedal’ showdown and later the organisers decided to increase the number of seats.

The Match for Africa series comprises of recurring tennis exhibition matches which raises money for the Roger Federer Foundation. Till now five singles matches have been held since 2010 and each match has raised over US $1,000,000. The generated revenue supports the educational and athletic programs for children in Africa.

Apart from singles matches Federer has also played doubles tennis where he was in tandem with the American business magnate Bill Gates.

During Wimbledon this year Federer gave an exclusive interview with Vogue, called 73 Questions. There is expressed his gratitude to Rafa for joining him for the Match for Africa in Cape Town.

“He’s (Nadal) also going to help me with my foundation again next year. We’re going to try to break the record for most attendance, in Cape Town, South Africa for my foundation. I’m so looking forward to it so thank you Rafa,” the World Number three said.

The Swiss legend Federer is attached to the nation of South Africa. His roots do traced out South Africa as his mother Lynette Federer hails from that region. Also Federer holds South African citizenship.
