Tears poured out when she was presented with the US Open trophy, “I feel like there was just a lot of emotions,” Osaka addressed her home crowd in Tokyo. “I couldn’t really pinpoint it at the time, I just felt very overwhelmed.” Osaka is happy to be herself and she enjoys the rarest moment of her life, “I don’t feel like I would’ve liked to savour the moment more — I think I do things my own way and everyone is different in their own way so I don’t really have any regrets,” she further said.

Naomi is now back in her hometown where she will be playing the WTA event Pan Pacific Open. She said, “I’m kind of notorious — I’m not that great at trophy ceremonies. Even in Indian Wells it was a little bit different I guess from everyone else”. She is delighted to play the Japanese tournament. Her fingers are crossed as hopes to produce some fruitful results. “I’ve played here for many years and got to the final once, so this tournament is very special to me.” said Osaka. The US Open champion works on her shortcomings and now she in the process of becoming a mature tennis ace. Also, the Japanese player has become more confident than before.
