“Our Bodies Were Trashed” – Megan Rapinoe Admits Being “Totally Drunk” After USWNT’s Shocking Loss at the FIFA World Cup

Megan Rapinoe is an American legend. She is doing marvelously for USWNT and winning various major competitions. We know Rapinoe for her vocal nature. She had openly criticized people who shared opposite views. Her fight against the USA Soccer Association for the right to equal pay can easily reflect her aggressive vocal nature. She released her autobiography titled One life, in which she wrote about various aspects of her personal and professional life. She released the book in 2020 which contained various noteworthy moments from her career.
Rapinoe also was a leading voice of the team kneeling during the anthem at the start of the matches. She was in an open feud with former president Donald Trump due to her views on the Black Lives Matter movement. She has also discussed the bad times of her career, especially when the USA lost to Japan in the 2011 World Cup.

Megan Rapinoe described the flight back home
In 2011, WC USWNT managed to go to the final with the heroics of Abby Wambach, Lauren Cheney, and Alex Morgan, only losing to Sweden. USWNT managed to get the score to the 2-2 tie after overtime, but Japan came victorious in the penalty shootout by 3-1. She describes how she was feeling after the match.

Megan Rapinoe wrote, “On the plane on the way back from Germany, we were all in pretty bad moods. Our bodies were trashed. We’d gotten totally drunk the night before flying. And now I had one of the worst fu**ing seats on the flight—first row of economy, nowhere to put my feet, and the table didn’t come out. I had Alex Morgan on one side and Lori Lindsey on the other, and Dan, my agent, was sitting behind me. At some point, I turned to Lori and said, “This is just dumb.”

The extraordinary career of Rapinoe
Rapinoe debuted for USWNT in 2006, appearing in 196 matches. Regarded as one of the best midfielders, she took the team to win two world cups and an Olympic gold medal. She has scored a total of 63 goals for the national team and 40 for her club OL Reign.
In her book, she had also written about the struggle she had to face. The backlash was mostly due to her outspoken political views. However, her career achievements alongside her distinctive stance are what made her one of the most admirable people in the world of soccer.
