David’s wheelchair accidentally jammed on the edge of the ice rink. This caused him to lose balance and fall from his wheelchair. Reports so far state that the Paralympian has sustained some shoulder injuries.

“He’s conscious and was accompanied to the hospital by a British Curling team nurse and physio after receiving initial treatment at the venue. Get well soon, David,” read a statement from Paralympics GB.

Melrose suffered a rotator cuff injury due to the accident. However, Team Gb has fans informed that Melrose successfully reached the athlete to his accommodation and is dealing with the injury.

Gary Smith replaced David Rose. But it was hard for Team GB to make a comeback and eventually they crashed out. They lost the match 6-3, meaning they have now won three and lost four of their seven round-robin matches.

A disappointing loss for Team Great Britain

Skip Hugh Nibloe expressed his disappointment regarding David’s injury. But David Melrose is okay and recovering, which mattered the most to them.

“It did affect us we are a close-knit bunch and it’s never easy to see anyone you care about taken away on a stretcher. The most important thing is that he is ok,” said Hugh Nibloe.
