Tokyo Paralympics 2020 came to a successful end on the 5th of September 2021. Paralympians from all around the world inspired people with their victorious glories, showcasing their incredible abilities.
Due to COVID 19, spectators and families of the athletes could not attend the games and cheer for their favorites. After reaching the glory of podium finishes, stars returned to their nations to celebrate. The excitement of every winner’s friends and family must be through the roof as they welcomed their champions home.
USA’s Nick Mayhugh also received a heart-warming welcome from his family as he returned after creating history in Tokyo. The Paralympic gold medalist broke down in tears after seeing his family and friends at the airport.

Paralympic gold medalist gets overwhelmed at the airport
25-year-old Paralympic sprinter Nick Mayhugh clinched a record-breaking four medals at Tokyo Paralympics 2020. Notably, three out of the four medals were gold and one was silver. When the Paralympic champion returned home, his family and friends came to welcome their hero. After seeing his family cheering for him, Nick got overwhelmed and fell down to his knees, crying. Watching him cry, his family rushed to give him a warm, consoling hug.

Nick clinched four medals in the track and field events at Tokyo Paralympics 2020. Mayhugh clinched the golden victory in 100m T37, 200M T37, and mixed 4*100m relay race. Whereas he also bagged the silver medal in 400m T37 race.

Nick shattered his own World record at Tokyo Paralympics 2020
USA’s para-athlete produced an astonishing performance in Tokyo, as he reached the podium in every competition he entered. Nick had started his sports journey as a soccer player, but his division did not qualify for the Paralympics, hence he changed to another sport.

His coach and brother Thomas recommended Nick to join the track and field sport. The 25-year-old was diagnosed with cerebral palsy which affects his muscle moment, but with the support of his family he did not give up on his sports dream.
Nick created a new world record in the 200m T37 event. Notably, he shattered his own world record the next day by clocking the time of 21.91 seconds. The Paralympic champion learned and trained in track and field sport in an impressive year and a half.

Nick dreams to become the Usain Bolt of Paralympics and create more history. With his formidable form and unstoppable attitude, that dream doesn’t look very far for the American sprinter.
