Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa are set to face off at UFC 253, with the middleweight belt hanging in the balance. Adesanya spoke about the possibility of closure after their fight this September.

Israel Adesanya is the current UFC middleweight champion and plans on keeping it that way post UFC 253. He claimed the middleweight belt at the main event of UFC 236 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. Adesanya went up against Kelvin Gastelum in a thriller of a contest and come out with the title.

Since his victory at UFC236, he has successfully defended his title at every outing. He took on Robert Whittaker and Yoel Romero and beat them to defend his gold. He will now face his long-time rival, Paulo Costa.

Israel Adesanya on his feeling towards Costa after the fight

Adesanya and Costa have been at each other’s necks for a while now, and the only way to settle this is through a match-up. But once they’re through with that, will peace restore between the two? Will they punch out their mutual hatred and call it a day?

Paulo Costa doesn’t think so. He is adamant that the fight will not be the end of their animosity, and the two fighters will not shake hands after the bell sounds in the octagon.

Moreover, when posed with the same question at an interview, Adesanya said, “Peace? I don’t know. You can get closure. You know when you break up with someone and you look for closure. Don’t need to look for closure in anyone, you find it within yourself.”

Those were honestly some wise words from Adesanya. Looking at his zen-like approach to this, he might actually not let Costa get on his nerves. Who do you think will walk out of UFC 253 with the middleweight belt?
