At the end of the regular season, the top 125 players from the FedExCup rankings qualify for the playoffs. Moreover, there are a total of three events in the playoffs. First, with the top 125 players, The Northern Trust, secondly, with the top 70, The BMW Championship (Aug 26-29), and finally the Tour Championship (Sep 2-5) with the top 30 players from the FedExCup rankings.

The first playoff event, The Northern Trust, will have a cut-off score, and only the top 65 and ties after 36 holes will make their way into the weekend. However, The BMW Championship and The Tour Championship are no-cut events, so all the players who qualify will compete for all four days.

Furthermore, the FedExCup points leader after two playoff events will begin the Tour Championship with a score of -10. However, the rest of the players will also get a pre-determined score according to their rankings. So, players with high FedExCup rankings after BMW Championship will get a huge boost going into the final event.

Meanwhile, the player with the lowest aggregate score after 72 holes at Tour Championship will win the Tour Championship and will also be crowned as a FedExCup champion. So, the objective to win the FedExCup playoffs is simple, win the final Tour Championship. Moreover, The Tour Championship winner will earn a bonus of $15 million and a five-year PGA Tour exemption.
