PGA Tour increases the purse of the Players Championship

The PGA Tour has informed players that the purse for next year’s Players Championship is increased to $20 million. Hence, it is the most money in a single-stroke-play tournament. Moreover, this increase in the purse of the Players Championship has left the four major championships way behind.

Furthermore, the projected prize fund for the entire Japan Tour is approximately $24.5 million. Hence, only a single event on the PGA Tour is almost equivalent to the whole Japanese Tour.

Meanwhile, previously, the winner of the Players Championship usually got around $2.7 million. However, from the 2022 Player Championship, the winner will reportedly earn $3.6 million.
