The four days were intense; however, in the end, we got a new American Express champion for 2022. Hudson Swafford was going through many emotions when he won the title; the joy of winning, happiness on watching his son, and sadness because of his father’s demise.

The 2022 American Express Golf Tournament ended on January 23rd after Hudson hoisted the trophy. Swafford scored a total of 23-under par in four rounds. With a score of 21-under, Tom Hoge secured second place while Brian Harman, Lanto Griffin, and Lee Hodges tied for third place.

The win at the American Express event meant a lot for Swafford as there are personal feelings attached to it.

Hudson Swafford felt overwhelmed at the American Express event.

It felt like an emotional roller coaster for Swafford. He lost his father a month ago, and as his role model, Hudson wanted him to watch him win at the Express event.

He said in the press meeting after the win, “he taught me everything I know; how to be a dad, how to be a friend, how to be a champion, and how to play golf.” Hudson also added that his father’s birthday was this week, and he knows his father watched him play from somewhere. While he was talking about his father, Hudson was getting emotional.

The 34-year-old is also a father to his son. His wife, Katherine, and son witnessed Hudson’s win at the event. The video of his son running towards Swafford after his victory is the sweetest thing you can find on the internet right now.

We wish all the best wishes for Hudson’s future. And will be waiting for the time to see when he will walk in his father’s shoes and gift his son the golf club if he hasn’t already.
