Just like any other sport, the PGA Tour also has a video game based on the tournaments and the players pertaining to it. While 2K sports currently makes the official game, Electronic Arts (EA) has announced its return to the market. Although they are yet to release details about the cover star, the light is shining bright on Dustin Johnson!

The Rory McIlroy PGA Tour was the last game to come out in EA Sports and PGA Tour’s collaboration. McIlroy held the World No.1 ranking at one point in time during 2015 and Electronic Arts chose him as the game’s cover star due to popularity levels.

So ahead of EA Sports’ latest PGA Tour game, there is a massive buzz around who the new cover star might be.

Dustin Johnson is the favorite to land the cover of the new PGA Tour game

The first name that pops up when thinking about a cover star for a new PGA Tour game is Dustin Johnson. While D.J. didn’t make the cut for the cover of PGA Tour 2K21, he is bound to land the deal with Electronic Arts.

Dustin Johnson has everything on his resume that makes him the top contender for the cover star. He’s the World No. 1 and also the 2020 Masters winner. These two impressions are enough for a professional golfer to be recognized around the world!

Tiger Woods is not a prime candidate as 2K sports recently signed a long-term exclusive deal with him. However, Woods made sixteen straight appearances as EA Sports’ cover star of the PGA Tour game between 1998 and 2013.

That leaves Woods out of the picture, and Dustin Johnson is more likely to take the throne when compared to his competitors Justin Thomas and Bryson DeChambeau. The latter is also a huge favorite, but the odds are currently tilting in Johnson’s favor.

Moreover, it is long overdue that golf fans saw Dustin Johnson as the cover star of a PGA Tour game. He completely deserves it and is the right candidate to take over the baton from the legendary Tiger Woods
