Phil Mickelson is one of the most prominent golfers on the PGA Tour. He has 45 PGA Tour wins and six major championship triumphs in his career so far. He even has four victories on the Champions Tour in just six starts and, the 51-year-old is still going strong as earlier this year he won a major championship.

At what age did Phil Mickelson win his first major championship

Mickelson made his debut on the PGA Tour in 1992, was considered to be a special talent. And the left-handed golfer proved it by winning numerous events on the Tour. However, when it came to major championships, there were always disappointments. Even after competing on the Tour for over ten years, he did not have a major championship victory.

But finally, the jinx broke at the 2004 Masters in Augusta National. Phil managed to win his first-ever major championship title by a whisker. He holed out an 18-foot birdie putt to take the lead against Ernie Els. Meanwhile, Mickelson won this prestigious event at the age of 34, which is around twelve years after his debut as a professional on the PGA Tour.

He also became the third left-handed golfer to win a major in golf. Moreover, he then went on to win PGA Championship in 2005 and Masters in 2006. Phil became so dominant that he clinched his third Masters title in 2010 and the Open Championship in 2013. Recently, he managed to win his second PGA Championship earlier this year to secure his sixth major win.

However, Mickelson has always struggled to win the U.S. Open. And this is the only major that Phil is yet to win. Meanwhile, this is also keeping him away from a career grand slam.
