The PGA Tour has stopped at Charlotte, North Carolina, for the next swing of its schedule. The Wells Fargo Championship is returning after a year’s break, and the 2021 field boasts so many talented golfers. Here’s everything you need to know ahead of Round 1 on Thursday.

Two-time champion Rory McIlroy is playing at the tournament for the first time since the 2021 Masters. Phil Mickelson is about to play in his 17th Wells Fargo Championship in 18 years. There are other notable field notes and this is just a glimpse of the quality of the players taking part. 

Furthermore, Max Homa will be the defending champion at the 2021 Wells Fargo Championship. Homa won his first tour title at the Quail Hollow Club back in 2019, but the odds are against him this year as no player has successfully defended the Wells Fargo Championship.
