Russell Henley has been making headlines for his performance at the Wyndham Championship 2021. While he did have a couple of top-five finishes this year, he missed the cut during the Open Championship in July. Now, considering his surname ‘Henley’, people have wondered if the 32-year-old is related to Don Henley – an American musician, singer, and songwriter.

Now, while both celebrities in question are Americans with the surname “Henley”, they are not related. Looking at their professions, the two might not even have met during their careers. Russell, however, is known for playing the guitar.

According to an earlier interview with the PGA Tour, Henley started playing the guitar when he was eight and is self-taught. He has always loved music, and his best friend was also a part of a band, mostly country, and 90s music. “There was a time in my life, early to mid-twenties where I traveled with my guitar and played a lot,” Russell said, only adding that he is indeed terrible at singing.

He has also played on the Tour, explaining that it did indeed help him with his stress while on the field.

Russell Henley’s golf career so far

Henry turned pro in 2011 and debuted at the Soboba Golf Classic in September. Just after a year, he won the Chiquita Classic. Furthermore, Henley even won the Winn-Dixie Jacksonville Open and has three PGA Tour wins. He won his PGA Tour debut in 2013 – the Sony Open in Hawaii.

His second PGA Tour title came with the Honda Classic in 2014, where he made the playoffs with Rory McIlroy, Ryan Palmer, and Russell Knox. His third and final win came three years later in 2017, where he won the Shell Houston Open in Texas. Henly also had a good run at U.S. Open 2021, where he finished T13.
