Jason Day going into the final round shares the lead for the 2022 Farmers Insurance Open. He carded -5 for the day and is currently -14 for the event. Notably, the Australian golfer shares the lead with the young American, Will Zalatoris, who carded -7 for the day. Not to forget, Jason Day is looking for his 13th PGA Tour victory this week.

However, the last three years have been strenuous as he hasn’t won any event since 2018. Furthermore, his back injuries kept haunting him and held him back from performing well on the PGA Tour. In light of the same, after round three, Jason revealed how close he was to quitting golf before his return.

Jason Day recently revealed how happy he is that he has given himself a chance to win the event on the final day. And that his ultimate goal is to put himself in a position where he can win tournaments. “I feel like it’s been a long time,” said Jason.

“Even though I’ve had some good finishes here and there in the last three years, it’s been difficult to know that like, hey do you want to keep pushing it, because it’s painful either way. It’s painful if I walk away, it’s painful if I keep pushing on, so I just had to kind of suck it up.”

Furthermore, he said people need to understand that it’s going to take a long time for him to recover as injuries kept bothering him. Other golfers might take a short while, but it’s been a rather different journey for Jason. “For me, it’s taken a while and just stay patient with myself and just stay positive as much as possible because sooner or later it’s going to change,” said Day.
