Rory McIlroy is one of the most prominent golfers on the PGA Tour. And recently, there were a few reports about Rory splitting up with his newly hired swing coach, Pete Cowen. There were plenty of articles from media houses suggesting Rory was going back to his old swing coach. However, Pete Cowen has denied the split and has tried to clear all the rumors floating around.

Pete Cowen denies splitting up with Rory McIlroy

Rory McIlroy started working with Pete Cowen around eight months ago. Cowen is a renowned swing coach and works with high-profile players like Brooks Koepka, Lee Westwood, etc. And recently, he expressed his disappointment after seeing the reports of his split with Rory.

According to Joy Chakravarty, a renowned golf journalist, Cowen denied the split to Worldwide golf. “Gossip is the easiest story to write. It always has been,” said Pete. “But the truth is, Rory and I are still working together. We have just changed the structure of how we do things.”

Meanwhile, a couple of days back, according to Golfweek, Rory reunited with his childhood coach Michael Bannon. But he did not say anything specific about his split with Pete Cowen. Instead, Rory said, “I’ve always had a relationship with Pete, and I’ll ask for his input if I need it. But now it’s Michael and me.”

Hence, there is no clarity regarding this situation. Cowen has said they have just altered the structure of their partnership, and they will continue to work together. So, it will be interesting to see how things unfold from here as questions will be asked to Rory about this, and he is the only person who can clear the air about the issue.
