The Rocket Mortgage Classic is returning to the PGA Tour. The tournament will once again be played at the Detroit Golf Club from June 28-July 4. The complete field has not been announced by the organizers, but a lot of big names have already committed to the tournament, and the list includes Rickie Fowler. 

The Rocket Mortgage Classic has only been around for a couple of years but has already gained a massive fan following. The third annual event is set to commence by the end of June but there’s already plenty of excitement around the tournament. 

Rickie Fowler becomes the latest high profile player to commit to the Rocket Mortgage Classic

Rickie Fowler will play at the 2021 Rocket Mortgage Classic! The main event will take place from July 1-4 and Fowler will be a part of the star-studded field at the Detroit Golf Club this year. The 32-year-old will make his third appearance at the tournament. 

Rickie Fowler has been playing at the Rocket Mortgage Classic ever since its inception. He finished 46th in 2019 with a score of 9-under par. Fowler improved his record in 2020 and achieved a Top 15 finish. He stood 12th on the leaderboard after four rounds and shot a career-low round 5-under 67 twice (Round 1 & Round 4).

Fowler, the 2010 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year, is also a Rocket Mortgage golf ambassador. There will be a lot of attention on him this year since the 32-year-old has to gain spots on the FedEx Cup standings to qualify for the first leg of the playoffs.

Bryson DeChambeau will defend his title against a challenging field

2020 Rocket Mortgage Classic winner Bryson DeChambeau has committed to his title defense at the prestigious Detroit Golf Club. The 27-year-old confirmed his participation on April 22, and the organizers released a statement expressing their delight. 

“The Rocket Mortgage Classic has quickly cemented itself as one of the favorite events on TOUR for some of the best players in the world,” said Jason Langwell, Executive Director of the tournament. “Bryson is smashing records with his powerful drives and, simply put, has been the most fascinating golfer on the PGA TOUR since he won our tournament last year.”

Besides Bryson DeChambeau and Rickie Fowler, major champions Jason Day and Bubba Watson will also compete at the 2021 Rocket Mortgage Classic. This has indeed raised the expectation levels for the tournament, and Jordan brand athlete Harold VarneAll Postsr III will also be a part of the field. 

The complete field at the 2021 Rocket Mortgage Classic hasn’t been determined. As of now, these five players have committed to playing at the Detroit Golf Club this year.
