Bryson DeChambeau is back on the course after a long resting period. And he has returned with a bang!

The 28-year-old making the 61-long putt at the 2022 WGC- Dell Match Play is nothing but a sight for sore eyes.

He scored the birdie putt on the par-3 4th hole in the third group round of the WGC. He was playing against Talor Gooch when he made the 61-foot putt. The funny thing about the situation is that neither Bryson nor the commentators were expecting him to make the hole.

“Looks like he got it,” one of the announcers said as his ball rolled over towards the hole. Once the ball went in, they were uncontrollably laughing, as they didn’t think it would go in. “Laughing cause he didn’t think he had a chance,” one of them chimed in between the laughs. “No, he was just trying to throw it up there somewhere,” the other added.

WGC is DeChambeau’s first tournament after missing almost all the events since the beginning of this year. He had to take a long break after injuring his wrist and hip. The golfer revealed that the speed training he had was one of the reasons for his injuries. Furthermore, he had revealed that playing table tennis at the Saudi International made the injuries worse.

Although DeChambeau committed to the tournament, he was not sure whether he would be able to hit the balls far as he used to. Since he lacked confidence in doing good, DeChambeau looked as shocked as the commentators when he made the long putt.

The fans’ reactions to the video

Since it was the first time since the Saudi International that Bryson was on the course, golf fans were happy to see the golfer back in action.

However, while others were pleased, some fans took the opportunity to show their dissatisfaction with the PGA Tour.

“No expectations,” DeChambeau had said to the press before the tournament. The young golfer explained that he doesn’t think the injuries would heal until the Masters next month.

Notably, Bryson didn’t have a good game at the WGC this time. Although he had the lead in the beginning, Lee Westwood defeated Bryson on the second match of the group stage. Since the World No. 22 had already got a tie with Richard Bland on his first match, he lost the chance to advance to the playoffs.

The 2022 WGC was his first-ever event after his sabbatical. Although he couldn’t hit bombers there as he had predicted, the 61-foot putt was a class act from the DeChambeau.
