Viktor Hovland Achieves a New Career Milestone in World Golf Rankings

Viktor Hovland recently won the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba. And with this win, he has created and broken plenty of records. He carded 67 on the final day to win the event by four strokes. Moreover, because of this victory, he has made a surge in the Official World Golf Rankings.  

Meanwhile, apart from Hovland, Justin Thomas and Abraham Ancer have made a slight surge in their rankings as well. JT finished 3rd while Ancer finished T7. Although there aren’t many changes to the OWGR, Viktor Hovland has achieved a new career milestone.

Viktor Hovland breaks into the top-10 of the OWGR

The Norwegian golfer Viktor Hovland recently won his third PGA Tour trophy at El Camaleon in Mexico. And after this impressive performance, Hovland has made his way into the top-10 of the official world golf rankings. This isn’t the first time that he is in the top-10 as the Norwegian held the spot for a few days during the 2020 Tokyo Olympic golf event.

But after that, he kept shuffling between 14 and 17 until yesterday. Before this victory, he was in 17th place, and this win helped him make a surge of seven spots and got him to tenth place in the OWGR. So he will be hopeful of continuing this form in the upcoming events and will be confident enough to break into the top-5 of the OWGR.

Meanwhile, Jon Rahm retained his top spot even though he wasn’t competing this week. Moreover, prominent players like Collin Morikawa, Dustin Johnson, Patrick Cantlay, and Rory McIlroy retained their spots. However, Brooks Koepka, who was competing at Mayakoba golf classic, dropped down to the 15th spot after a below-average round.

Furthermore, Justin Thomas and Abraham Ancer made a surge of one place as JT climbed up to 6th spot while Ancer went up to 13th. Both these players had an excellent week, and they have got their reward for the same.
