Viktor Hovland Reveals the Reason for Taking a Unique Route on the 15th Hole at Riviera Country Club

Viktor Hovland is one of the most promising youngsters on the PGA Tour. He has three PGA Tour, and two DP World Tour wins in his career so far. Moreover, he has impressed everyone in the golfing world with his incredible golfing skills. So much so that fans and experts believe him to be the next big thing in the sport.

Meanwhile, Hovland is currently competing at the 2022 Genesis Invitational. And his approach on the par-4 15th hole at Riviera Country Club has been perplexing for everyone. He is going for the 15th green via the 17th fairway, which has raised the eyebrows of many fans and experts. However, Viktor explained the reasons for the same.

Viktor Hovland surprised everyone by reaching the green through the 17th fairway on the 15th hole at Riviera Country Club. And after round two, he revealed the reason for the same.

“I did that at the U.S. Amateur here in 2017. Actually, got to give my buddy Zach Bauchou some credit. He was the guy that first mentioned it,” revealed Viktor.

Furthermore, Hovland said, he did the same last year as well. “I believe it was the third day, and it was humming downwind. I think I hit a driver and a sand wedge in there. And there’s not too much trouble there, I thought. Obviously, that bunker on the left side (of 17) is no good, but at the same time, the bunker down 15 on the right is no good either. (This way) just fits my eye.”

Meanwhile, Viktor scored even par on both days at the tough par-4 15th hole. However, after a decent round one, Hovland had an incredible second round where he carded 64 and is currently seven-under for the event. And going into the weekend, he is nine strokes behind the leader.
