The TPC River Highlands has Bentgrass from tee to green surrounded by Bluegrass fescue roughs. There are many lakes and ponds that make the holes exciting. The Bentgrass will assist the players in the fairway as the ball rolls smoothly after landing. But getting the pace right on the greens can become a headache and would require good judgment.
The three-hole stretch from 15 to 17, which plays around a lake, is notable. The 15th hole is an intimidating one. It is a 296 yard par-4 with water to the left and sand to the right. A player can score anything between 2 to 6 while walking off this green. Next is the par-3 16th with 171 yards. This hole requires a well-struck mid-iron to clear the water and stop the ball on the narrow green. The green has a lot of slopes, and the pin locations can be difficult.

The 420 yard par-4, 17th hole is intimidating. Players must fit their shot between the lake which covers the entire right side, and arduous fairway bunkers on the left.
