Collin Morikawa is currently a hot topic in the golf community. He won the 2021 Open Championship and got his second major trophy. He tumbled and created plenty of records throughout the event. Morikawa became the first player to win two majors in the first attempt and later credited his girlfriend, Katherine Zhu,  following the victory.

Who is Collin Morikawa’s girlfriend, Katherine Zhu?

Katherine Zhu was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, and was interested in sports since childhood. And initially, Katherine had a keen interest in tennis. But she decided to focus on golf soon after. However, she did her schooling in China but decided to return to America for her college degree. 

Meanwhile, Katherine continued playing golf, but unlike Collin, she did not make it as a professional. While she might not be great in this game, she is a skillful player in her own right.

So golf continues to be a big part of her life. She was in the collegiate team for four years and was a division one player. She has always supported Morikawa in every possible way and Zhu recently shared an Instagram post congratulating Collin.

Where did Collin Morikawa and Katherine Zhu meet?

Collin and Katherine met each other when they were in college. Although the two went to separate universities, they still managed to connect after their first meeting. Katherine then went on to major in International Management. 

Collin Morikawa has never been shy to talk about his relationship. Moreover, in a recent interview, he credited Katherine Zhu behind his success.  

“I am very lucky to have her,” he said. “Kat has been by my side through it all. She would hate me if I didn’t say this, but I didn’t start winning in college until she showed up in my life, so thanks, Kat.”

“Whenever she’s there, it always just gets me away from golf. She knows how I’m feeling after golf like you said, she’s played collegiately, she knows golf can take a toll on you, whether it’s a good or bad day.”

“So she’s on that same swing of if we’re playing well or not well, but, yeah, I’m very lucky to have her. Having someone at dinner makes things a lot nicer than sitting down there at the hotel by myself.”
