Jim Furyk is one of the best golfers we have seen. However, his career has been shaped a little differently than the rest of the champions. His father- Mike Furyk- has been his swing coach his entire life.

The 51-year-old is currently playing at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship where he is on top of the leaderboard, en route for his fourth title on the senior tour. The 17-time winner on the PGA Tour gave his father the credits for his fantastic career and said, “I wouldn’t be standing here today, I wouldn’t have had as successful a career.”

Furyk also shed some light on his natural swing and how it came to be. He said that his father didn’t try to make him change his swing or make it mechanical, something he is happy for when playing under pressure.

Finally, he pinned me down and said, ‘Well, how old do I have to be?’ He was 8-9 years at that time. I said 12. I figured he’d forget about it. He didn’t.”
