The John Deere Classic returns to the PGA Tour after being canceled in 2020. The 2021 edition is the 50th anniversary of the tournament. The TPC Deere Run is the host of the tournament since 2000. This year, the field is deprived of star players since most of them are at the Scottish Open. And few others are preparing for the final major tournament of the year, The British Open. 

However, defending champion Dylan Frittelli will return to the field along with just five of the Top 50 players. And this provides an opportunity for plenty of other pros to make a move in the FedExCup rankings. There are already 15 players in the field who have qualified for the British Open. The last spot in the next week’s final major of the year will go to the golfer who will finish in the top five this week and hasn’t qualified. Si Woo Kim is one of the favorite players to win this tournament. He has had a decent 2021 season and will look to add another trophy. He has already won The American Express earlier this year. The South Korean became the youngest player to win a players championship in 2017.

Kevin Na is also in the mix this week owing to his expereince. He is one of the most underrated golfers on the PGA Tour. The five-time PGA Tour champ has already won a trophy earlier this year at the Sony Open in Hawaii. 

3. Troy Merritt

Troy Merritt has had a decent PGA Tour season so far. He almost won his first PGA Tour trophy last week at Rocket Mortgage Classic. Merritt lost the trophy to Cameron Davis in the play-offs but had an outstanding performance over 72 holes. He would look to keep his momentum going and continue his hunt for his first PGA Tour win this week.

2. Sungjae Im

South Korean Sungjae Im is an underrated golfer on the PGA Tour. He finished T8 at the Rocket Mortgage Classic and has gained much-needed momentum coming into this week. The one-time PGA Tour winner will look to finally break the jinx and get his hands on the John Deere Classic trophy this year.

Daniel Berger (22) is the highest-ranked player in the current FedExCup Standings in the field. He is the most favorite player this week to lift the trophy. The four-time PGA Tour winner’s last win came in Feb at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Daniel will be playing his first tournament after the U.S. Open, where he had a decent finish with T7.
