It is important to note that 56 golfers have made a cross-country trip from Torrey Pines to this week’s Travelers Championship. And they will find this course slightly easier than Torrey Pines. But the only thing to be wary of is the wind speed which can have a rise in its intensity going into the weekend. The Travelers Championship host, TPC River Highland, is a slightly easier course. Last year’s scoring average of 68.626 was a nine-year low. The defending champion Dustin Johnson shot -19 while the runner-up Kevin Streelman was just a stroke behind him. So most probably, we can see a birdie fest from players and expect them to score low.

Rickie Fowler has been on a struggling side in the last couple of years. But he is finally getting his rhythm and swing back. Furthermore, the news, which he broke on Monday, that he is going to be a father for the first time might push and encourage him to do well.

4. Bryson DeChambeau

Bryson DeChambeau had a great week at the U.S. Open, which unfortunately ended catastrophically. But Bryson is a mentally strong player who knows to make comebacks. And this Travelers Championship has always been kind towards him. He has top 10 finishes in 2018, 2019, and 2020.

3. Kevin Streelman

Kevin Streelman has always found some success in this tournament. The No.2 in all-time earnings in this tournament and was a runner-up last year. He won this tournament in 2014 by scoring seven straight birdies and has four back-to-back top 20s upon arrival.

Dustin Johnson will look to successfully defend his title for the second time in his career. He doesn’t need to get his driver out often (except for par 5) and manage his tee shots with three wood and irons. Even though he struggled at Torrey Pines, the TPC River Highlands course is ideal for his game. And one can always expect DJ to defend his title.

1. Bubba Watson

Bubba Watson is the most successful player in the Travelers Championship. He is the all-time earning leader of the tournament with three wins, a T2, and eight top 25 finishes. Bubba had a decent start to the U.S. Open and was in contention after two rounds, but he just imploded during the weekend. But since he has glorious memories at the Travelers Championship, Watson will be in the mix and try to continue his dream run in this tournament.
