Ted Scott is the former caddie for Bubba Watson. Bubba has had Ted on the bag since 2007. And since then, these two have seen a lot of ups and downs in their career. But they know that in golf, the hard weeks are always going to outnumber the happy ones. However, after being his caddie for around 15 years, this duo parted ways in 2021.

Ted was formerly Paul Azinger’s caddie for a while, but he was with Bubba Watson for around 15 years. Watson won his first-ever PGA Tour event with Ted Scott in 2010, and since then, he has seen it all from Masters wins to Ryder Cup triumphs.

Ted learned about the game of golf from his grandfather during summer visits to Texas. A wild hitter with a great short game, Scott tried college at McNeese State, and after that, he contracted foosball fever and quit golf for three years. He won the world foosball doubles title in 1994 and finished second in singles.

But after a few years, he picked up golf again and saw that he had a better understanding of swing. Later, Scott became a professional caddie as he got his first assignment for Grant Waite, who hired him on the spot.

Bubba met Ted via Ben Crane, a professional golfer. Bubba was looking for a like-minded caddie who could understand him, and Ben recommended Ted Scott. Their first golf tournament was in 2007 at the Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston, where Watson finished tied for 12th.

Scott had very little to do in the initial days, as he just used to hand over the club and calculate the yardages. But after a few days, as they got to know each other better, Bubba started asking about certain shots and reading putts.

Their lowest point came in 2013 at the Travelers Championship. Leading by a stroke with three holes to play, Watson hit a 9-iron into the water and rebuked his caddie. He went on to score a triple bogey and lost the tournament because of that misplay. Scott blamed himself for it, and Bubba not only apologized for losing his cool but also gave Ted a raise.

A few months back, Scott was asked by Golf Monthly about what is it like to caddie for Bubba Watson? and this is what he answered. It’s like an assortment of chocolates from Valentine’s Day – you never know what you’re going to get! There’s a lot of goodness in there, but also a couple of bad ones.

However, on September 30, 2021, Bubba Watson announced on Twitter their split. However, he also made it clear that he is still friends with Ted Scott and the two will continue to share the same bond.
