Who is Matt Minister, the caddie of Patrick Cantlay?

Matt Minister is currently the caddie for Patrick Cantlay. Meanwhile, Minister has been a caddie for nearly 16 years now Cantlay is one of many players he has teamed up with. According to golf monthly, he has also previously worked with Sangmoon Bae, Nick Price, Chris Smith, Joe Durant, David Eger, Chip Beck, Erik Compton, Jeff Sluman, and Chris Kirk. 

Meanwhile, Matt grew up in Ohio and played college golf at Ohio State University. And he is also a good golfer as his current handicap is around 2. However, eventually, his attention turned to becoming a caddie. Moreover, he said that one of his greatest memories in the job was teaming up with one of his longtime friends, Chris Smith, to win the 2002 Buick Classic. 

Additionally, another personal highlight was winning The Memorial Tournament in 2019 and 2021 with Patrick Cantlay. Minister said he grew up around there and started going to Muirfield Village at the age of 7. Hence winning an event here not once but twice is a special feeling for him.  

Moreover, Minister’s nickname on Tour is Rev. He is known as Rev because of his last name, and he earned this nickname while working for a college friend on the golf circuit. 

Furthermore, some other interesting facts about Matt are; his favorite professional golfer growing up was Jack Nicklaus. His favorite course to caddie is Riviera, and his favorite course to play is Augusta National. 

Meanwhile, Patrick Cantlay’s previous caddie was his childhood friend Chris Roth. But unfortunately, Chris Roth died on February 13, 2016, after being struck by a car in a tragic accident. And since then, Matt Minister has been Patrick Cantlay’s caddie on the PGA Tour.
