1. PGA Tour banning the word “Brooksie”

We saw the feud between Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka reach its epitome this year. Fans had started yelling “Brooksie” on the golf course whenever they saw Bryson. Hence, the PGA Tour decided to ban the word Brooksie and said any fan yelling this word would be thrown out of the golf course.

This ignited a huge controversy. However, things got better at the Ryder Cup as fans cheered for DeChambeau for the first time and he didn’t disappoint them either.

2. Nelly Korda’s controversy at Solheim Cup

On the first day of the Solheim Cup, the World No.1 golfer Nelly Korda got involved in a rule controversy. On the 13th hole, Nelly made an eagle putt, which came to the rest on the edge of the hole. Meanwhile, Team Europe’s Sagstrom picked up the ball and gave it to Nelly, making it a birdie putt.

However, the rules officials said Sagstrom did not wait for 10 seconds before picking up the ball. They believed she did not give enough time for Nelly’s ball to drop in. Hence, Nelly was awarded an eagle, which raised a few questions and controversies between the fans.

3. Phil Mickelson’s controversy at the PGA Tour Champions

During the Furyk & Friends event on the 16th hole, Phil Mickelson encountered a huge controversy. Phil sliced a shot under a tree and the ball came to rest on pine of straw. But as Phil tried to remove the loose impediments, his ball moved slightly. He had a long conversation with rules officials and said he didn’t cause the ball to move.

Moreover, according to the rules, it is players’ words is what matters and hence Phil avoided a penalty and eventually won the tournament. However, there was a lot of criticism that he faced, and was even trolled on Twitter.
