The last time Anthony Kim made an appearance at a PGA Tour event was at the 2012 Wells Fargo Championship. Riddled with injuries, the then-26-year-old Kim had to withdraw soon after the opening round. He disappeared shortly after, but golf fans never stopped hoping for a comeback update.

Now, 12 years after he pulled a disappearing act, the golfer is all ready to script his return! According to a new report, Kim has been neck-deep in discussions with the PGA Tour, LIV, and possible sponsors to plot his re-entry. Sources close to Kim also offered insight into his current recovery status.

On Thursday, industry insider Matt Fisher took over the golf world after revealing that Anthony Kim is allegedly joining LIV Golf. “From what my sources are telling me, this is not LIV going after Anthony Kim; it’s the other way around where Anthony Kim is pursuing LIV,” Fisher mentioned in a now-viral clip uploaded to YouTube.

However, per Dylan Dethier of Golf, the 38-year-old may also opt to resume his professional career with the PGA Tour. Dethier further reported that Kim has been spending more time playing golf as well as working out. These speculations come at a time when the golf world is already buzzing with reports of potential defections. Earlier this week, Adrian Meronk became the latest big-name pro to jump ship to LIV Golf. Meanwhile, rumors continue to swirl about the likes of Viktor Hovland, Tyrrell Hatton, and more.

Before taking a step back from the limelight, Kim had won three events on the PGA Tour. As a result, the Korean American will gain easy access to certain events based on “past champion” status if he chooses to stay loyal to his old Tour. Moreover, he can also rely on sponsor exemptions to get into other key tournaments.

LIV Golf, on the other hand, isn’t backing down either. If the latest report is to be believed, Greg Norman has now set his sights on Kim, a month after he successfully poached Jon Rahm from the PGA Tour.

Is a LIV Golf move on the cards for Anthony Kim?

Before he vanished over a decade ago, Anthony Kim’s golfing chops led many to dub him the “next Tiger Woods“. In addition to his PGA Tour heroics, Kim had also represented his country at the Ryder Cup and the Presidents Cup. But soon after, the golf phenom’s flourishing career was derailed by one injury after another. Things hit an all-time low when Kim tore his Achilles in the summer of 2012. He ended up pulling out of three back-to-back events and hasn’t been seen since.

Following the disappearance, author Alan Shipnuck claimed that Kim boasted an insurance policy that would pay him $10 million tax-free if he never played again. However, LIV CEO Greg Norman has now reportedly made a one-year offer that would cover his insurance policy while allowing the golf pro to pocket prize money as well as benefit from sponsor deals. If the rumored deal with the Saudi-backed league were to go through, Kim may very soon make his debut in the upcoming months!
