PGA Tour Events That Extended to a Monday Finish in the Last Decade

The 2021 Northern Trust is currently underway at the Liberty National Golf Course in New Jersey. After round three, Cameron Smith and Jon Rahm share the lead for the event. But the PGA Tour has postponed the event until Monday. Moreover, the leaderboard going into the final round is absolutely on a cliffhanger. There are around 14 players who are just five or fewer strokes behind the leader. 

Hence, it is evident that round 4 will have a captivating end with so many players still in contention. However, Northern Trust, which was scheduled for a Sunday finish, has been rescheduled to Monday due to a tropical storm. But this is not the first time that a PGA Tour event is having an unscheduled Monday finish. So, let us have a look at how many times there has been an unscheduled Monday finish on PGA Tour.

How many times there has been a Monday finish on PGA Tour?

So, according to the PGA Tour stats, there have been 19 events since 2011 which have had an unscheduled Monday finish. Meanwhile, if the 2021 Northern Trust completes round 4 on Monday, then this will be the 20th unscheduled Monday finish on PGA Tour. And this will be the first event of this season which will have a Monday finish.

However, this is not the first time that there will be a Monday finish in the FedExCup playoffs. Previously, there have been two incidences, both at BMW Championship in 2013 and 2018. Moreover, there are also a few tournaments that have had a Tuesday finish.

List of the events which have had a Monday finish since 2011

 It is interesting to note that every year since 2011, there has been at least one event where there has been an unscheduled Monday finish. And if the weather allows, the 2021 Northern Trust could be that event of this year to join this list.
