A recent leak of the design of PlayStation 5 released a bit of interesting information. The white plate attached to the main console rig looks to be detachable. While this piece of news is very exciting considering this allows people to customize the look of their console with some independent creativity. The leak happened on a Chinese website, from a PlayStation production factory. It was later covered by ResetEra. However, before we draw any further speculation, remember, it is a leak! There is always a possibility that these images are fake. They might mean something totally different. Considering that, let us take a better look:

Right off the bat, those white plates seem to sport elevated mounts. Therefore, it is highly probable that Sony might be presenting us with the most customizable PlayStation ever. Sony is visibly mum on special edition consoles at the moment.

PlayStation customization and what it means:

For years we have been presented with black consoles by Sony. XBOX 360 allowed custom faceplates that you could swap. Take, for example, a HALO design. If that is going to happen with PS5, it is worth being excited about! Think of all the colors that can be added! You can even go crazy; spray paint the white ones and voila!

Games can release their personal line of swappable plates. Think zombie-themed ones from Last of Us 2. Likewise, even a Spiderman body! The possibilities are endless.

Hardware customization in games was always a loved feature. We love custom controllers. Fans went crazy for special editions of XBOX consoles for popular games. Come early August, a Sony is expected to host another PlayStation event. Till then, fingers crossed!
