The upcoming ‘Marvel’s Avengers’ game has impressed fans all over the world. The developer Crystal Dynamics has clearly hit it out of the park. With stunning graphics, immersive gameplay, and a great storyline, it has the potential to be a blockbuster hit.

We were also introduced to a surprise new Avenger, Ms. Marvel a.k.a. Kamala Khan. A recent gameplay reveal shows her to be the main protagonist of the story. She discovers that M.O.D.O.K and his organization A.I.M framed the Avengers. Take a look:

The Avengers team up with ‘The Resistance’, a group of ‘Inhumans’ and former SHIELD agents who refused to side with AIM. Together, they fight their way to expose M.O.D.O.K and put an end to his plans of wiping out superpowers from the world.

Marvel’s Avengers War Zones Mode

This is a co-op mode and not a full multiplayer mode. Co-op is when you play with friends in a PvE battle, to complete a common goal. Multiplayer on the other hand is when you play PvP and not against a common enemy.

The ‘War Zones’ mode is designed in a manner that will allow you to play with your friends, complete avenger-specific missions, and also upgrade your characters over time. Take a look at the following extended gameplay for a clearer understanding:

‘War Zones’ director Philippe Therien explains it as

“The key difference between Hero Missions and War Zone Missions is that while the former tends to be story-focused and very cinematic, a War Zone is an expansive, explorable space loaded with side content including concealed caches to uncover, powerful bounty enemies to defeat, AIM depots to take over, faction allies to rescue, and hidden loot to claim.

“While there is a main objective in each War Zone Mission, how you choose to approach them is up to the player. If the mission objective is outdoors for instance, the heroes can approach from any direction and tackle the challenge as they see fit.”

This pretty much explains how the co-op gameplay will differ from the main storyline. This mode may look fairly similar to the ‘Destiny 2’ gameplay. It’s not entirely similar but does have a lot of points to be discussed.

Heroes and customization

Philippe further explains

“Each War Zone Mission will display the difficulty and suggested Power Level before launching. Although difficulty can be user adjusted, the higher the challenge, the bigger the rewards.”

There will be 6 War Zone mission types namely Iconic Missions, Faction Missions, Drop Zones, Vaults, Hives & Villain Sector. Each of these has a different objective and reward based on the level.

Apart from this, you will also be able to customize your characters. As you progress with the missions, you will gather rewards that can be used to upgrade your gear, resources, artifacts, and also change your appearance.

Each hero also has a unique play style. This will allow you to customize your hero according to what suits you best. This mode will keep getting new missions at no additional cost.

To sum it up, Marvel’s Avengers looks pretty promising with its co-op feature. The launch is scheduled in September 2020 and it is time to assemble your squad to take down AIM.
