Microsoft announced the price and launch date for its Xbox Series X and S last week. While it made a lot of Xbox fans happy, all eyes were on Sony as fans were waiting for an announcement regarding the PlayStation 5. They got their wish as the PlayStation Showcase has been announced for September 16. Now, in a bid to crank up the anticipation, Sony has revealed a brand new trailer for one of its timed exclusives.

Godfall made its debut at the previous PlayStation Showcase event. The looter-slasher RPG looked stunning and wowed fans. It bore a striking similarity to the God of War title due to its combat mechanics but also brought a lot more to the table.

The game’s description read, “Aperion is on the precipice of ruin. You are the last of the Valorian knights, god-like warriors able to equip Valorplates, legendary armor sets that transform wielders into unstoppable masters of melee combat. Tear through foes as you climb through the elemental realms and challenge the mad god, Macros who awaits you at the top. Ascend in Godfall, the first-of-its-kind, looter-slasher, melee action-RPG.”

Sony also released a brand new combat trailer for Godfall a few hours ago. It showcased the game’s character movement in combat, different kinds of enemies, and the co-op mode.

This trailer also highlighted a players’ ability to exploit enemy weak-points that will be advantageous in combat. It showed the PvE online co-op mode where players can tag along with up to three friends.

How PlayStation 5 Can Counter Xbox Series X and S in the Console War

This announcement has come at an interesting time considering the spotlight is now on Sony. Xbox made its move last week, and it is now Sony’s turn to do the same. This new Godfall trailer showed the PS5’s next-gen graphics capabilities. Additionally, it gave an added incentive to potential PS5 buyers since it is a timed exclusive for PlayStation. This only helped Sony’s cause in its fight against Microsoft in the ‘Console War’. The game was also announced for PC and more information will be revealed at the PlayStation event on September 16.
